Everyone in cosplay starts out cringe cause their learning. And we usually start out when were young and have minimal skills. As long as your being nice to others and having fun being cringe is fine.

I'm still cringe at 30 and embrace it. At 14 I closet cosplayed Poison Ivy now at 30 I cosplay her still, I still make things from pop bottles and other stuff, closet cosplay, still collect figurines and I'm happy 😊

it's always the blatant fatphobia and racism too like no matter how perfectly made and award winning a cosplay is, they'll always see fat and non-white cosplayers as inherently more cringe just because of our appearance 😭

My first cosplays from 2011-2012 did not have wigs, were made by me and my mom and not recognized by anyone but I was still proud of them. Baby cosplay me would not believe I won best craftsmanship at cosplay contest this year.
