Mt Tateyama, one of the 3 sacred mountains of Japan. 10/10 worth it. Overall Difficulty: 3 out of 5 If you’re coming from Tokyo, take the Hokuriko Shinkansen. About 12,000 yen and a little over 2 hours It’s best to start early from Toyama, Dentetsu Toyama station (not Toyama station!) Use the Toyama Chiho Railway Main Line straight to Tateyama Station. Once at Tateyama, you need to get tickets for the Cable Car to Bijodaira Station and then round trip bus tickets to Murodo Station. They will offer that package at the ticket office and it is about 7500 yen. (Cash or card accepted) You don’t need a specified return time but the last bus from Murodo Station is 1630! There is a QR code on your ticket and that is how you get on and off the transportation methods. Once at Murodo, the trail starts when you get outside from the third floor. Follow the masses or follow the signs to summit(s). I started at 1000 and reached the top of Mt Oyama at 1215 (with many water and photo breaks 😂). I was too tired to go to the other summits but it is very doable. There are 2 “sections”, the trail (deceptively long lowkey) and the rock scatter. The rock scatter was steep and difficult but I realized I went faster without hiking poles and just climbed using my hands lol. The views were amazing! I spent about 30 minutes appreciating the Toyama and Nagano prefectures before heading back down. Going down was brutal and I used my hands to move down the rocks and transfer my weight. I slid a few too many times but never fell 😂. It took about 90-100 minutes to get back down to the entrance. I had enough time to eat Toyama glass shrimp kakiage soba (highly recommend) and souvenir shop before getting on the 1520 bus back to Tateyama. The line can get crowded quickly so plan accordingly. Remember to have your ticket ready. I slept the whole way back and magically woke up when I needed to get off 😂. #japan #japantiktok #japanlife #japantravel #Hiking #hikingszn #hikingjapan #tateyama #hikingtips #toyama #立山 #日本 #富山
