@politicalparalysi: The National Crime Agency estimates £1 billion of criminal cash is laundered through high street businesses every year. One month of raids last autumn: 2,700 premises, 924 arrests. That's why your high street looks like that. #HighStreet #MoneyLaundering #UKPolitics #CostOfLiving #PoliticalParalysis

What about all the empty pubs and cash only pubs and builders. Many white builders and pub owners are avoiding tax.

You know what. You are right. But the only problem that matters for the government that this amount of money escapes taxes. They only want taxes nothing more. How about working long hours for "legal" work and still struggling to afford daily life. This the state of the average household in the UK, for the good of large capital big companies who earns billions and leave only little for their hard working employees, and yet no one would could this modern slavery. It's worse actually.

This is totally money laundering, right? Makes you wonder where all that cash is actually coming from. Probably drug dealing and other shady stuff. Seriously, the number of businesses doing everything in cash is wild.

So they are declaring the cash so they can pay tax on it 🤔 This scenario has never made sense to me. The only way you can launder money is to exchange it for something else, normally that someone else wants. Vapes aren't going to do that and barbers don't buy hair so how are they doing it. Buying property or gold was always the way.
