But CBIA’s own 2024 economic study estimates just 18 charter vessels use the inlet, and the bigger question is one people keep skipping: using the inlet is not the same as depending on it. Some vessels can operate in shallower water or use alternate routes, while larger, deeper-draft boats may be much more dependent on a maintained channel. Very dangerous inlet. Marker bouys get blown and the path shifts very very very shallow. A few years ago a father and son went to go fish, bouys shifted they took the wrong path. Boat got broad sided killed the father, the son lived.

Take it from somebody that uses that inlet every weekend, at low tide right at the break. It’s 4 foot. I have hit bottom in my 18 foot center console 2 many times, it has to be dredged….💯
