The first structure, Girnigoe Tower, was erected by William Sinclair, 2nd Earl of Caithness, towards the end of the 15th century. In the early 17th century, George Sinclair (the 5th Earl) had a second, adjoining complex built: Sinclair Castle. In 1576, the 4th Earl of Caithness imprisoned his own son, John, there for seven years before letting him die of thirst and starvation after serving him salted beef. In 1680, a succession dispute broke out between George Sinclair of Keiss and John Campbell of Glenorchy. Campbell invaded the region and besieged the castle. Artillery fire severely damaged the structure, which was permanently abandoned in the late 17th century in favor of more modern residences. Left to ruin for three centuries, the site suffered collapses due to coastal erosion.🥰👍

It would be really cool to get the interior scans of some of these castles and build them to 1/1 scale for paintball and airsoft matches.
