@askacatholic: “Finally, a real Christian” sounds harmless until we start using ourselves as the standard for deciding who counts as Christian. As Catholics, we have to be careful with language like this. Christianity isn’t defined by whether someone agrees with every personal interpretation, theological opinion, or preference we have. The Catholic Church gives “heresy” a specific meaning: the obstinate denial or doubt, after Baptism, of a truth that must be believed with divine and Catholic faith. So technically, simply saying “finally, a real Christian” isn’t automatically heresy or blasphemy. The point of the video is aimed at the mentality behind the statement—acting as though our personal judgment is what determines whether another baptized believer is genuinely Christian. There are real doctrinal differences between Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Protestants, and other groups, and those differences absolutely matter. Catholics should defend what we believe is the fullness of the truth without pretending those disagreements don’t exist. But defending Catholicism doesn’t require casually declaring everyone outside our exact understanding to be fake Christians. Truth matters. Doctrine matters. Theology matters. But so do humility, charity, and accuracy. Defend the faith strongly, but make sure what you’re saying is actually what the Church teaches. #Catholic #Christianity #CatholicTikTok #JesusChrist #christian
