@runningtips1: The Last Soul Ultra is a Backyard Ultra, where runners have to complete a 6.7 km loop every hour. They must be back at the starting line before the next hour begins. The race continues until only one runner remains. (tagesschau.de) In 2026, 169 runners started the race. The final battle was between Mark Dowdle from the USA and Ayyoub “Ello” El Osrouti from Germany. (tagesschau.de) Mark Dowdle won after completing 94 loops, covering 630.4 km in approximately 94 hours — almost four days. (DIE WELT) Ayyoub “Ello” El Osrouti completed 93 loops, covering 623.7 km in 93 hours. During his 94th loop, he could no longer continue and eventually collapsed onto the grass from exhaustion. (u-Trail) The incredible part is that Ello had already run more than 623 km, but because he could not complete the next 6.7 km loop within the one-hour limit, he was officially classified as DNF (Did Not Finish). Only the winner is officially considered a finisher in this format. (u-Trail) 1st — Mark Dowdle: 94 loops | 630.4 km | ~94 hours 2nd — Ayyoub “Ello” El Osrouti: 93 loops | 623.7 km | 93 hours 3rd — Norman Mascher-Aspensjö: 80 loops | 536.5 km (spoferan.com) It wasn’t just a race against distance — it was a race against time, exhaustion and the other remaining runner.
