THE HIGH FASHION WORLD CUP | GROUP E The second iteration of the High Fashion World Cup, 48 teams represented with high fashion iterations of their national team kits. The final group. 5/5 complete. 32 teams now will be eliminated, 16 to continue. What teams will make it to the round of 16? You choose, comments below. GROUP E Brazil This look leans into dressing for Brazil's climate and beach culture. The look is minimal and uncovered with gold sequins channeling the shine of Carnival and samba. Algeria Taking inspiration from Algerian menswear such as the karakou, the embroidered jacket, paired with a draped cape referencing the burnous. DR Congo This look takes inspiration from La Sape, the Congolese dandyism movement built on sharp tailoring, bold color, and fine dress as a form of self-expression. Portugal This look nods to the traditional attire of Portugal, the Traje de Lavradeira, referencing the red sash cinched at the waist over dark trousers, reworked in an all-red palette. Qatar This look takes after the thobe, the long white robe central to Gulf menswear and a marker of both tradition and status in the region, layered over a maroon base as reference to the national team kit and includes the headpiece nodding to the ghutra. Czechia This look reworks traditional Czech folk costume. Panama Inspired by the montuno, Panama’s traditional menswear, the white jacket and straw hat mirrors the camisilla shirt and sombrero pintado, while the small crossbody bag nods to the chácara traditionally carried across the chest. Iran Inspired by the Persian court look, this ensemble takes cues from the qaba, the fitted, belted coat once worn by Persian royalty, its structured shoulders and draped layers pulled from the ornate silhouettes seen in Qajar-era portraiture. The gold embellishment across the shoulders of the jacket nods to the jeweled and embroidered detailing worn by Persian shahs.
