@ashleys.life.trib: 5 Tips for Catching Walleye in August in Northern Ontario 1. Fish deeper than you think.
August water temps are up, and walleye often move deeper looking for cooler water and easier feeding spots. Try drop-offs, points, rock piles, and deeper weed edges. 2. Early morning + evening are your best friends.
Walleye love low-light conditions. Sunrise and sunset can be magic, especially when the bugs are hatching and baitfish are active. 3. Don’t overlook the weeds.
Healthy weed beds can be a buffet in August. Walleye will cruise the edges looking for minnows, perch, and other snacks (because apparently even fish appreciate a good food delivery service). 4. Slow down your presentation.
A jig tipped with a worm, soft plastic, or leech can be deadly. In warmer water, sometimes a slower, more natural presentation beats burning your lure across the lake. 5. Follow the bait.
Where the minnows are, the walleye usually aren’t far behind. Watch for bait balls, birds diving, and areas where smaller fish are active. Question for the anglers: what’s your go-to August walleye bait — worms, leeches, minnows, or plastics? Still need to book an adventure- messages us we have limited availability in august! #limitedavailability #walleye #fishing #bigbearcamp
