@meghamuse: #wageslavery - it should be illegal to hire someone full time without paying what is required to actually sustain that human labor force #latestagecapitalism
we're also doing multiple jobs for one persons pay

One of the photographers that I shot with in LA had this really cool thing under his studio it was a coffee shop, but it was a lifestyle wage coffee shop, and everyone who worked there was paid individually based on what they needed to survive. He made sure everyone’s rents were covered, and groceries were recovered and basically took their cost of living and made it what he paid them. Obviously, he wasn’t making a ton of money or really much at all, but it was a really cool concept for someone who does have an abundance of money to be doing.

There should also be requirement for stability. My pay went from 67k to 51k to 45k to then ultimately be fired because I refused to quit because of the financial instability.

How are they buying all of someone’s time but they can’t be alive on what the time you extract from them…

The rent is the main problem, the overhead for commercial businesses causes them to raise the prices so high they price out a majority of their customers then they lower the quality and cut corners to stay in business and then they eventually close. I live in SF and have witnessed this once incredibly cultural and whimsical city get washed of all its most unique and creative people and spaces. Boomers have ruined everything.

They won’t even sustain you while you’re there with a 30 min unpaid lunch break in a 10 hour workday where you have to buy your own lunch. It’s siiiiick

Corporations should be owned collectively. Commercial farmland should be owned collectively. Rental real estate should be owned collectively. Wages and all that won’t ever fix the problem. It’s all about ownership and how much singular people are allowed to control and profit

And we gotta stop this 30+ hour/week “part time” bullshit. Part time/flexible is good for some people. But don’t schedule me just short of having to give me healthcare AND expect full availability. If I need another job, we gotta all be okay with that.

And if there’s no money left over at the end of the month, how are we expected to retire? We will either drop dead on the work floor or we will exit stage left on our own terms when we’ve had enough. Those are the current projected options
