@shereeneidriss: We talk about collagen, fat loss and skin..but what about the bones underneath it all? 🦴 At 42, after TWO years of lifting weights, my DEXA scan showed I was already losing bone density. I’m not saying everyone needs a scan every year. But knowing your baseline earlier gives you something incredibly valuable: time to do something about it. So why are we as women waiting until 65 to start paying attention? Bone density is part of aging. Let’s start treating it that way. #dexa #bonehealth #antiaging
lol I got a DEXA scan to see how much body fat I had in my 20s 😂 my doctor did recommend I get another DEXA scan recently, mostly because I’ve had chemo & radiation therapy so he wants to check my bone density because of it. Guess this is a sign I should be scheduling my diagnostic imaging soon lol

A doctor recommending “preventive” scans without reason is literally going against the fundamentals of medicine. Unnecessary scans and procedures are far more negative than what minimal benefit they rarely produce

Seems like a waste of money, do we need to spend money on DEXA scan, don’t we know we are losing and should correct it-now?!?

Cost prevents me from getting one. Far too expensive after insurance helps a little.😳

but how to fix the bone density loss? or at least help in slowing it down? 😇 other than calcium, collagen, etc. supplements?

Hi Dr. Idriss, have you ever seen patients in your practice that developed osteopenia/osteoporosis at a young age and as a result experienced changes in their facial structure? I'm 28 years old and unfortunately got diagnosed with osteopenia due to a history with an eating disorder. I'm currently doing all the right things (impact and resistance training as well as calcium, D3 and K2 supplements). Yet, I've already noticed a (negative) change in my facial structure in the past year, or so it seems to me.

You’ve been lifting weights and it hasn’t helped :(? I know you mentioned you weren’t pushing yourself but what does that mean ? Can you let u know what you were doing before that wasn’t giving you the results?
