Little wonder then, that the legendary Ochieng' Kabaselleh sought his services and by extension, his Mazadijo outfit in some of his recordings and performances. If you listen to some of Kabaselleh's songs like "Wuora Ogola" and "Achi Maria", Anzino Osundwa's marvelous solo guitar instantly gets you on your feet. His vast experience and exemplary finger works endeared him to many musicians who reached out to him to feature in some of their recordings. This made him to start offering his services as a sessional guitarist in Nairobi's River-Road. Anzino became one of the most sought after solo guitarists playing guitar for musicians like Benta nyar Koyugi(Ogwe chalre), Aziz Abdi and many others, in some of their recordings. Music enthusiast migosi Wilson Were once mentioned here that Anzino Osundwa may not have formed Mazadijo band but he breathed life into it when he joined the band together with other young musicians like vocalist Phillip Jung'a alias Oswagaley, rhythm guitarist Owacha Willy, vocalist William Onyango Tough ma Jakobita Seme, rhythm guitarist Dixon Ochieng', bassist Mang'ang'a just to mention a few. They simply gave the band a new lease of life and in no time, the name "Mazadijo" was common in the lips of many lovers of music. Mazadijo's prospects were bolstered further by the arrival of new members such as Omanyo K'Orido aka Othorong'ong'o, Charlie wuod Alego, Freddy, Achola Kodek and others. Mazadijo undoubtedly became a household name in the music scene with Anzino Osundwa as the leader of the outfit. A friend of mine once cracked my ribs when he mentioned that when Mazadijo released the hit song "Nyar Gem", some men, particularly those whose wives weren't keen on going to the village, breathed a sigh of relief! All they needed to do was play the song "Tich orumo Nya Gem wadog e pacho..tich orumo Nya Gem wadog e pacho, kapesa orumo Nya Gem wadogie dala..kapesa orumo Nya Gem wadogie dala walosie dipo.." and let the lyrics do the talking on your behalf 😀 This song greatly came in handy for people whose relatives had "village phobia". You simply needed to tease them with the song to make them soften their stance! I'm making this short in order to give anyone with additional information about Anzino Osundwa, Mazadijo band and the people he worked with, a chance to share with us what they know.
