The interesting about about the newcomb paradox is that there are 2 different seemingly logical ways of approaching it. 1. If the machine has already predicted you taking the 1 million, you should take both for the extra 1000. If the machine has predicted you’ll take both, you should take both so you’ll get something out of it. In both cases, both is the logical answer. 2. The machine has been right every time before. What you pick is almost certainly what the machine has predicted. So pick the 1 million, and you’ll get it

You said that consequentalism is about maximising hqppiness even if it will break the law but isnt utilitarianism also about that? And of course I believe we should strive for maximizing everyones happiness but I don't believe that every person can be made the happiest on the planet. So what I meant is that we should strive towards an future utopia we will never achieve.
