folks who defend billionaires think they have a shot at being a billionaire themselves. they also align perfectly with people that don't understand the difference between a million and a billion

This is pure misinformation. Elon musk paid billions in taxes last year but a low income tax.

Wouldn’t the fairest option be a flat tax rate? So the tax basis of every class is the same. 30% from all billionaires would truly be more money than 30% from all poor households. Not defending billionaires but if you reduce the incentive to build large scale solutions in your economy by taxing heavily isn’t that bad. I think the main issue is the efficient use of tax dollars rather than taxing more.

Reading thru the comments, it’s always fascinating to witness the different interpretations ppl have about both math and morality, but the number of billionaire defenders is the most disheartening.

And this is only income, the rich don’t live off their income, they live off wealth and asset backed loans, neither of which are properly taxed

Ironically America golden age of capitalism is when it was at its most communist. Economically wise not socially

"Tax the rich" nah we're pretty fucking far beyond taxing them at this point. We need something more... permanent.

you should probably use a different type of graph for this, i thought this was tax rate for one group over time because each dot was connected
