you are looking at it from just one perspective that is to say they are in conflict because their survival is based on the estate. The word inherit may not be right in all cases, sometimes it is just fighting for the right of her children, do you mean one party should have let go because she is successful? secondly your perspective would have been applicable if the two parties were not successful. From what I know both of them are not doing badly, but one right should not be foregone.
