Lee health tried to make the local transport company save all the linen’s in trash bags and keep them in the ambulance until they can be returned to the hospital! Everyone said no to that

Sometimes we use blankets in the OR to soak up big spills. The hospital got mad at us bc laundry is charged by weight 😐

A very large children’s hospital in Texas (Houston) area is not even using linen on the beds anymore. Just chucks. For infection control. Oh and they don’t want babies in diapers. Just saying.

While I do agree that linen is a basic supply, this was because the linen delivery was delayed. It’s not the daily expectation, linens are provided from an outside source. Just trying to not run out before they got more 👀

The hospital I just left they took away 75% of all patient foods/snacks on the floors and rationed out the food and the linens so if you run out too bad

My beef is that it’s not even to make sure that the patients still get above excepcional care, it’s just to further ration and reduce what patients get so THEIR salaries don’t get cut. It’s not to give the people who are on the floors any more money, it’s to nickle and dime us and the patients. It helps no one but the big bosses. I said what I said. They’re cheaping out on supplies, they’re limiting what we can use, and they’re cutting staff.

meanwhile the NICU I work at is changing linen twice daily even when not soiled (which also happens frequently, because tiny humans). I wonder what the central line infection rate is at this hospital that isn't changing linen regularly...

my job tried to implement this however if a patient wanys their bed changed then i cant refuse it. thats considered insubordination. thats why it didnt work

Our says no linen changes if anticipated discharge today. IM SORRY, WHAT? If the linens are soiled idc if they are gonna discharge in 40 minutes, they arent sitting in dirty linens.

Yup. They did away with the heavy blankets for our beds. We now only have bath blankets. which are not bed sized or very thick. So meemaw is 8 blankets deep now, instead of one or two. And that's cost effective????

Omg my hospital did this way back in the mid 90s with the obligatory pizza party for the unit that reduced its % the most. Told its don’t need a linen change daily (uhm infection control anyone). And the hospital had its own linen /laundry. Ma’am none of us took that challenge

My grandfather grew up in rural Italy and if you didn’t bring linen from home you didn’t get linen, the big argument for not having socialized healthcare is always that people don’t want to go back to that, well here we are headed and we still have the same bills
