i use a 6 point system but i understand the 10 icl. The goal is to distinguish between quality in meaningful ways. So an S ranking is good and an F is bad. Now if you want to distinguish between a movie that’s really bad but has some funny moments or a good ending that kinda made it better than pure slop? Give it F+ which means it’s borderline next tier. I don’t mind Nuance in ranking

I also think that the American grading system has inflated the 10 point system because a C is 70% and that means unless something is actively people don’t rate below a 7 out of 10.

The 5 point rating system is basically a 6 point but you reserve 6 for only the most peak of media (it's usually just a 5 or 4 you're incredibly biased towards)

the problem isn't the scale the problem is nobody uses it correctly if you go to a five point scale people will turn it into a 10-point scale by saying 1.5 2.5. it doesn't matter. personally I recommend a six-point scale a one means that it was terrible didn't watch it doesn't matter how bad it was it was just not good enough to finish two is fine your life is about the same if you did or didn't watch it. three now it's actually good four you can start recommending it to people like that you know well four is great five is amazing and six is perfect wouldn't change a thing about it. it's basically the way that people use the 10-point SC
