my whole thing is how are we denying the bible as a historical book when there is history outside of the bible that backs what it says...

Some of yall have WAY too much knowledge for me to even remotely understand. Which worries me that I will be misguided one day. All I can go off is my feeling and my personal experience with God. In HOPES I am truly following the true and one living God. My anxiety can’t handle all of this 😬😮💨😩

Academia knows its positions are indefensible but the powers that be got their feet on academia’s necks to peddle the lies we have been told. The Bible is true and insanely accurate.

the mysterious gap in Egyptian history is SUCH proof for the Bible to me! a civilization as proud as Egypt would not record their greatest embarrassment. on this note: the fact that the Bible consistently records every one of Israel's downfalls is proof that the texts are divinely inspired. NO ancient civilization would document how awful they were UNLESS those who aligned with God, seeing the evil in their society, wrote them down.

OK, so are you saying that the Hyksos people are expelled from Egypt 150 years before they claim Canaan and become kings of many nations as specified in the Old Testament Genesis 17 3-8? So what happens during the years we cannot account for? Are you saying that the Hyksos are the Hebrews and the promised land was conquered not ‘given’ when they were kicked out of Egypt? When does Moses come? Thank you 🙏

My disagreement is with saying the Biblical timeline matches history "perfectly," because that's exactly what's disputed. If you use the 480 years in 1 Kings to date the Exodus to around 1446 BC, then the 40 years in the wilderness puts the conquest around 1400 BC, and that's where you start running into archaeological problems. Jericho doesn't have the destruction layer we'd expect at that time, Ai wasn't even an occupied city in the period normally associated with Joshua's conquest, and Hazor's major destruction comes considerably later, around the 13th century BC. Exodus also mentions Raamses, which fits the Ramesside period much better than the 15th century BC. You can propose explanations for each of these things like saying Raamses was a later update to the place name but that's already different from saying the timeline "matches perfectly." My point isn't that archaeology proves there was never any historical event behind Exodus; it's that the evidence doesn't justify claiming that the specific Biblical chronology lines up perfectly with what we currently know about Late Bronze Age Egypt and Canaan.
