The way my coworker did this to me too. She gifted me an Amazon gift card that said it had $50 on it, she got me for secret Santa, then she went way over the limit for me because she “wanted to spoil” me, when I went to use that gift card, it had $11.63 cents on it…..

Years ago, my family used to do basically a gift card swap we called it. The gift exchange $50 limit but it was just basically everybody swapping gift cards supposed to be $50. I go to use mine, which was two $25 gift cards. Only one of them was valid.

I had a coworker try this with me. gives me a gift card fir our Christmas exchange. I was like cool, thanks. had it in an envelope and everything. I wasn't going to open it, just figured id thank her and keep it moving. However, my other coworker, apparently knew this heifers game, and insisted i open it uo to see how much was on it. I was like no its cool ill open it when I use it, but she would not let it go. so I open it only to find, its still wrapped in plastic, not activated. this was years ago I cant remember what store it was for, but in order to activate it you had to open it. Anyway, my insistent coworker looked at me and says see, I told you. if you would have left here and came back and told her nothing was on it, she was going to accuse you of being a liar. now, I always check gift cards in front of givers.
