@meghannmcuniff: A prosecutor ended his exam of the man who took the last photograph of Tupac Shakur by asking him about a conspiracy theory that's followed him since the shooting. "And as a result of it being associated with this case and the night of this particular murder, has there been some accusations of a conspiracy theory of you somehow staging the scene?" Binu Palal, a deputy district attorney in Clark County, Nevada, asked on Friday (August 21, day 5) in Duane "Keefe D" Davis' murder trial. "Oh yeah, yes," Leonard Jefferson answered. "And can you tell us a little bit about that?" Palal asked. "Well, I mean, the Internet does what it does. People, you know — it was set up. It was a movie scene," Jefferson said. "That you had staged the scene?" Palal asked. "Yeah, yeah. I staged it. I currently work in the movie industry as a picture car coordinator, so they put that all together," Jefferson said. "Let me ask you this: Did you stage the scene?" Palal asked. "I did not," Jefferson said. "Nothing further," Palal said. In cross-exam, Davis' lawyer Michael Sanft continued his passive approach by asking Jefferson if he's aware "that the picture that you took ended up on the cover of a book written by Kathy Scott?" "Yes," Jefferson said. "Did you allow for permission for that to happen?" Sanft asked. "Yes, she licensed it through my agency," Jefferson said. "I'm assuming at some point that you were able to sell the rights of that picture to people who needed to use that picture in furtherance of whatever project they had?" Sanft asked. "Yeah, the agency that represented it, they did. They licensed it," Jefferson said. Sanft asked Jefferson about first seeing Shakur and Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight in their BMW. "There is a vehicle, and you recognize the vehicle, right?" Sanft asked. "I didn't know the vehicle, no," Jefferson said. "Oh. Did you see Suge and Tupac in the vehicle?" Sanft asked. "That's what I saw. The wheels is what caught my attention. And then I looked back and I saw Tupac and Suge," Jefferson said. "Okay. And were people running up to the car?" Sanft asked. "No," Jefferson said. "And so when you ran up, Tupac, was he hanging out the window? Was he sitting in his chair?" Sanft asked. "He was sitting in his seat," Jefferson said. "You're not hearing people screaming out Tupac's name or something?" Sanft asked. "No," Jefferson said. Davis has said in interviews that are being used against him in trial that women screaming Shakur's name alerted them to the and Knight's presence, so Sanft is trying to establish that Davis was lying. #law #crime #court
