there are different guardian deities bearing the same name of karuppuar hailing from different clans who later revered as Guardian deity for that particular family lineage....in my father's side there is kula deivam temple dedicated to Karuppusamy who came from that lineage and is not associated with others. .......this was informed by grandparents when I visited the kula deivam temple in indoa

according to my grandfathers there are different guardian deities under the name Karuppusamy Whom we generally categorize under as different forms .in my village there is a shrine dedicated to Sinna karuppar who is not associated with Karuppusamy..he is revered as an independent deity and he sports a Vaishnavaite symbol on his forehead ..
