Be mindful of Allah and be with those who are truthful.” - Qur'an 9:119 Notice Allah doesn't simply say be truthful-He also says “be with those who are truthful.” Your environment matters. 🌱 3. The Prophet ﷺ gave a powerful example The Prophet ﷺ said: “The example of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of a musk seller and a blacksmith...” The musk seller may give you perfume, while the blacksmith may burn your clothes or leave you with an unpleasant smell. Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim The point is powerful: even if you don't intend to become like the people around you, their influence can affect you. ⚠️ 4. Some friendships become a source of regret On the Day of Judgment, people who followed the wrong companions will say: “Woe to me! I wish I had never taken so-and-so as a friend.” - Qur'an 25:28 That's why Islam doesn't tell you to hate people who sin. Rather, it teaches you to be careful about who you allow to become your closest influence. You can be kind to everyone-but not everyone deserves equal access to your heart, your time, and your character. 💭 Your friends don't just influence what you do today. They can influence who you become tomorrow. So ask yourself: “Are the people closest to me bringing me closer to Allah-or making me slowly forget Him?”
