I remember going to the Radha Krishna temple in our park one morning. I went at around five in the morning to do puja because I had somewhere to go later, so I thought I would go early and pray before the usual time. I honestly didn’t expect anyone to be there because it was so early. Then I saw the priest the person who is supposed to perform the puja. Instead of carefully removing the flowers and offerings from the idols, he took a broom and started sweeping them off. He was literally using the same kind of broom that you would use to clean the floor, sweep away dirt, or sweep up fallen flowers, and he was using it to clean the deities. Seeing that honestly felt so disrespectful to me. I just felt like there was no proper sense of devotion or reverence being shown towards the idols. It really upset me and left me feeling quite disturbed.
