I remember documentary about mermaids and it was pretty much saying that human split off into the sea and onto land and we are the humans who evolved for land and they are the humans who evolved for the ocean but I remember watching this when I was like a child

It was a "mockumentary". They had disclaimers before and during the credits stating it was fake. Also, they were never forced to say it was fake, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration simply released a statement stating that no such evidence had ever been found.

Maturing is realizing that maybe just maybe if creatures like mermaids, Bigfoot, fairies, or other “mythological” beings were ever confirmed, keeping them secret might actually protect them. 😭 People would immediately go into hunt, capture, collect, exploit, and prove it mode. Then you’d have everyone furious that the government “hid the truth” because they felt entitled to know without asking what the consequences may be. It wouldn’t just create curiosity. It could create chaos, fear, hatred, and a whole new target for humans to destroy. We already have a pretty bad history of killing what we don’t understand🙈 especially when something is rare. People don’t even follow wildlife laws now poaching still happens for exotic skins, trophies, money, and bragging rights. If something like that were ever confirmed, I genuinely don’t think it would be safe from us. And if they ever started retaliating because humans were hunting, capturing, or invading them, I’m sure the government would eventually label them the danger and try to eliminate the threat. That’s the part that makes it feel like a no-win situation. Humans hurt them, they defend themselves, then their defense becomes the excuse to destroy them. At that point, maybe secrecy really would be the safest thing for everyone🙈 So here’s my question If “mythological” creatures really do exist, do humans have a right to know or do they have a right to remain hidden and protected from us?
