A change of scenery does more for our children than simply give them something fun to do. When we took the kids to Balboa Island, spent time at the beach, and explored Dana Point, I was reminded that new experiences do something powerful. They awaken curiosity. Research continues to show that our brains pay closer attention to new environments than familiar routines. Children naturally begin asking more questions, noticing details they may have overlooked before, solving little problems, and engaging more deeply with the world around them. Those moments don't just make for enjoyable outings~they become opportunities for learning, growth, and meaningful connection. As parents, we're not simply planning outings, vacations or trips. We're helping shape how our children experience the world. One of the things I love most is how these outings naturally create space for conversation. A walk along the shoreline, watching boats drift through the harbor, or sharing a meal together often invites discussions that don't happen when everyone is rushing from one responsibility to the next. Side~by~side experiences can make it easier for children~and even adult children~to open up in ways that feel natural rather than forced. Just as importantly, our own sense of wonder matters. Children learn what is worth noticing by watching what captures our attention. When we pause to admire creation, appreciate craftsmanship, ask questions, or express gratitude, we're quietly teaching them to do the same. God has surrounded us with reminders of His wisdom and creativity. Every new place offers another opportunity to help our children grow in curiosity, gratitude, observation, and appreciation for the world He has made. "How many your works are, O Jehovah! You have made all of them in wisdom. The earth is full of what you have made. There is the sea, so great and wide..." ~ Psalm 104:24, 25 Whether it's a coastal town, a nearby hiking trail, or simply a place you've never explored before, don't underestimate what those experiences are building. Sometimes the greatest lesson isn't found in the destination itself, but in the curiosity, conversations, and connection that happen along the way. What is one place your family has explored that sparked curiosity or meaningful conversations? I'd love to hear about it. xoxo, Chelle #IntentionalParenting #CuriosityMatters #FamilyConnection #FaithAndFamily #RaisingCuriousKids
