@brentcosnett: High cholesterol? This is how I’d be thinking about it. Obviously lots of variations depending on the individual and other risk factors. And yes some people may need a statin. But I’d want to be looking at other avenues to bring it down and optimising health in areas that could be contributing. Not medical advice

I'll follow the advice of a suitably qualified clinician rather than just someone on Tiktok.

Mine was 4.2 consistent over 18 months, during a period where I made significant life style changes to reduces LDL. Triglyceride dropped significantly and all other numbers were great but LDL didn't budget. So I was put on 5mg daily of Statin. Interestingly, but maybe not related, the chest pain I had every day for a few years completely disappeared about 1.5 to 2 weels after taking Statin. I have done bloods since to see if LDL has responded to Statin but will soon. Ive been on it 6 weeks.

I was diagnosed at 14yrs old at 10.3.. I had my daughter checked when she was 12, gut feeling as her pregnancy was the first time I saw my number drop under the double digits. the dr was reluctant to check, saying kids dont get cholesterol! I told him to just humour me and check.. turns out she was higher than mine.. I'm now 48, had 5 heart attacks including a widow maker resulting in a triple bypass.. my daughter terrifies me as shes now 28 and doesn't take it seriously as not even medication lowers ours

What about these number ? Total cholesterol: 8.59 mmol/L * LDL-C: 5.80 mmol/L, this is the big red flag * HDL-C: 2.55 mmol/L, excellent/high * Triglycerides: 0.77 mmol/L, excellent/low * Non-HDL cholesterol: 6.04 mmol/L, high * ApoB: 1.41 g/L, high * A1C: 4.9%, excellent, not in the prediabetes range

This is really interesting. My cardiologist wants mine at 1.4, was on statins and had every side effect possible. Now on Repatha, LDL still at 3.9, just restarted on Ezetimibe as well. It’s a struggle.
