I always kinda hate when people agree with Lyonel's point, he's angry which makes what he says valid to him. But when Baelor stood with Dunk, the point was to make a stand and show that he believes that Dunk did the right thing. If his intention truly was to come out unharmed, he just wouldn't have intervened in the first place, he gained nothing but a little prestige by joining the trial, which you could even doubt gaining that when standing against his own family. He was a good man, who died (albeit unexpectedly) trying to fight for what was right.

Honestly I disagree with Lyonel here, Raymun and Baelor were the only ones that fought with Duncan out of Honor. Everyone else had a personal vendetta against the Targaryens

Lyonel had a point. Aerion’s side was Aerion, Daeron (who’s no fighter), Prince Maekar (Baelor’s best mate and brother who wouldn’t dream of intentionally hurting his brother), 3 Kingsguard who are forbidden to harm Baelor and a landed knight who’s hoping to curry favour with Baelor so he can get a Lordship for standing with Aerion. Baelor risked fuck all but still died.
