its not that simple ,google maps use this method ,but to find multiple roads and chosse which is best ,and try avoid traffic jams ,car accidents ,mud roads during rain ,100 km highway =30 minutes vs 80km mud road 60 minutes vs 60km traffic jam 80 minutes ,google chosse highway

Nope, google maps, sorta did it like this before. But with a difference, it has those routes from A to B to C to D. When you searched up route to A and you were near C, it moved you fastest way to that route and used database to get rest of the journey to B then A. Now days, it uses data collected from phones with location data on, sees what the fastest route is currently and updates specific journey such as A to B with new data. Hence it knows of roadworks and slowdowns.
