I am tired of explaining simple physics to conspiracy guys. Your argument fails because the plane, the atmosphere, LA, and Hawaii are already rotating with Earth before the plane even takes off, taking off doesn’t magically erase the plane’s existing momentum. It’s like jumping inside a train moving 100 mph you don’t smash into the back wall because you keep the train’s forward velocity while you’re in the air. So if a plane flies LA to Hawaii at 560 mph west relative to the ground, it’s simply moving west relative to an Earth that’s already carrying everything eastward together, flying Hawaii to LA at 560 mph east works exactly the same way. Earth isn’t rotating away from the plane because the plane never stopped participating in Earth’s rotation in the first place the only speeds that matter for the trip are the plane’s motion relative to the surrounding air and Earth’s surface, with winds affecting the actual travel time.

OMG! I knew the answer to this when I was 12. The plane is flying within earth’s atmosphere. Anything within earth’s atmosphere is rotating with earth. Moreover, adjusting for earth’s curvature is also elementary. Nose down would bring the plane down to the center of earth.
