I was there, I went there by bus allocated by my father's workplace. The bus was full of people. We stood in long traffic jams, but we reached our destination. A certain section of the road on the Vilnius-Riga road was allocated for a separate district of Lithuania. Feeling for 11 year old me was very impressive.
