But water hyacinth was first recorded at Hartbeespoort Dam in the 1960s, meaning it has been there for more than 60 years. It became particularly severe from the 1970s onwards. This has nothing to do with the ANC.

The plant is doing what it is supposed to do. It is cleaning the water. It will go away on its own once the water is clean enough. There's no need to do anything except making sure no sewage or dirt flows in there

At some point we should stop blaming government ,commercial famers should take responsibility for the fertilizer and other chemicals flowing from farms to main water streams and partly municipal untreated sewerage flowing to our rivers
