Nz is not cheaper. Worked and lived in both Aus (remote Pilbara) and cities in Aus. Nz is still more expensive. Cars, boats, food, housing, fuel and yep income way down.

I reckon most things are close cost wise ! Some things cheaper, some things more. Not all salaries are more - agree for trades from what I’ve heard and you’ve said, but not more pay for a lot of corporate jobs in my experience . Buttttt corn me the lifestyle (better weather, more going on, more options for everything because bigger population + demand). People just need to do research before they move because everyone’s experience will be different for sure and it depends what you want!

Your also need to compare location and scenery on value the property that your renting, everywhere in New Zealand is so close to the beach and views ect, his a prime example right here, this town in Victoria is something that you should be compare cost too in most off New Zealand well that’s location and because it use to be a holiday destination for me where I’m living in NZ is very much the same and close to the beach. We are in a similar state/quality house, 3 bedrooms on 809m2 paying $650 a week rent this is 583m2 paying $750 a week a full $100 more. As I’ve stating previously in another comment, I’m on $32 per hour full time in NZ same role my mate was doing for $29 casual not getting the benefits I do. Let’s dive into some more stuff on this thread ayy

Nz is not cheaper. Because you have to factor in wages. Aus has better wages by far. Almost double the wages for me. And my rent and bills about the same. So please how is nz. Cheaper? Nz is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. That’s why we are all leaving. Because the wages are so low comparatively to the cost of living. Yes we all know that Australia has higher salaries and wages when compared to NZ, the reality is the population of NZ is equivalent to Sydney, we have smaller economy and Australia's is much bigger, Australia also has 5 different minerals that are mined contributing to GDP. ultimately it simply comes down individual preference and the lifestyle one chooses for themselves, having lived in both countries, they each have their individual pro's and con's, I disagree that one is better than the other, they each are awesome in their own ways
