@sindymflorestal: Enzymes vs. Hormones: They both keep your body working—but they do VERY different jobs. 🧪🩸 Enzymes and hormones are both essential to the human body, but they work in very different ways. ⚡ Enzymes speed up chemical reactions. A specific molecule called a substrate binds to an enzyme’s active site, the reaction occurs, and products are released while the enzyme can be used again. 🧪 Salivary amylase is one example it begins breaking down starch during digestion. 📨 Hormones, on the other hand, are chemical messengers. Endocrine glands release them into the bloodstream, allowing them to travel through the body. Only target cells with the appropriate receptors respond to a particular hormone signal. 🩸 Insulin is an example of a hormone that signals cells and helps the body regulate blood glucose. Easy way to remember: ENZYMES = REACTIONS ⚡ HORMONES = SIGNALS 📨 Save this for your next biology or A&P review! 📚 #Enzymes #Hormones #Biology #AnatomyAndPhysiology #medicaleducation
