The mother of remembering names - M.O.M. We all remember things or list through acronyms. We have W.E.T.: Used for the factors affecting the rate of evaporation: Wind, Exposed surface area, and Temperature. In math we have TOA CAH SOH. It is especially memorable for us in Singapore because cheekily, Toa Cah Soh sounds like Big Leg Auntie in a Mandarin dialect. For people who do not know TOA CAH SOH is the universal math savior for Trigonometry: TOA: Tangent = Opposite / Adjacent CAH: Cosine = Adjacent / Hypotenuse SOH: Sine = Opposite / Hypotenuse We also use B.O.D.M.A.S. for the order or priorities in a math equation (Brackets, Orders (powers/roots), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction) So in the video we are going to explore how to boost your memory of remembering names with the acronym M.O.M. First M stands for Motivation. What is the motivation for remembering this person's name? Maybe it is for networking, maybe it is for respect or maybe it is to close a deal. If you know that in an hour's time of meeting or hearing a person's name, that if anyone who remembers that person's name gets a million dollars, would you forget his or her name? What is the motivation for learning a new language? To embrace more of that culture? To make friends with people of that language? To go and live in that country for a long period of time? O Stands for Observation. Memory is not about retention but its about attention. Sometimes we don't pay enough attention to it to remember it. If you don't even see or notice the car that passed by, how would you even know or remember what color it is? Last M is for Mechanics. Mechanics are the tools, techniques and strategies for remembering and to have a better memory, which I will continue to share. So like and follow this account and look out for more updates coming up.
