The storming of the dragon pit was caused by the war, which was caused by the Greens. I'm sorry to break this to you, but events don't exist in a vacuum. They didn't randomly decide to storm the Dragonpit, nor did Helaena randomly decide to jump, nor did Jaehaerys get assassinated randomly. It started because Aemond killed Lucerys, which he did because the Greens usurped the Throne, and both were sent to treat with House Baratheon. But Aemond decided to break all their laws of hospitality and peace and kill a peaceful envoy. But then again, they had already killed people in King's Landing to seize the Throne, so.
