TDW1704 :
Michigan taxes motor fuel at a flat rate of 52.4 cents per gallon (effective January 1, 2026). This rate reflects recent changes where the state eliminated its 6% sales tax on gasoline and replaced it with a higher per-gallon excise tax dedicated entirely to road and bridge repairs. An additional federal tax of 18.4 cents per gallon also applies,,,,, 6 cents on a dollar is normal .. so if you bought 5 gallons of gas it would be 30 cents ,,, at this new rate 5 gallons at 52 cents a gallon cost is $2.60 now ,,,, google is free 30cents is a far cry from $2.60
