@officerdown_memorial: Sergeant Todd May was tragically killed in the line of duty during a vehicle pursuit that crossed the West Virginia - Pennsylvania state line. The incident began with a hit-and-run in West Virginia. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. Sergeant May was positioned in the median on I-79 southbound, awaiting the pursuit, when the driver rammed his patrol car. He was transported to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he passed away shortly after. The driver was charged with multiple offenses, including homicide by vehicle in Pennsylvania. On December 13th, 2012, he was convicted of third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while DUI, and other counts. Sergeant May dedicated ten years to the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department, following service with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department and the West Virginia Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority.
