Long-end yields sat at their highest since 2007.. and the Treasury’s buyback couldn’t hold them down. The market called the bluff inside a day. There are only two ways the long end comes lower from here. Cut spending and get inflation under control.. or the Fed steps in with real credibility and tightens the short end. Intervention on its own won’t do it. Something has to give. That’s why Friday matters. Kevin Warsh delivers his first Jackson Hole speech as Fed Chair.. three weeks out from the September meeting.
