All while the controlling abuser will bring up any time you spoke out or told someone what is really happening in the home. Not only are they smearing your name but preventing you from telling the whole truth of what is happening or happened in that abusive relationship.

What is also really important is to know despite what they say and to whom, please carry on living your life and not let it affect you. I’m 3 yrs separated and 2 months divorced and I am still getting the same treatment. Let them carry on with what ever delusional nonsense they spread.

a smear campaign within a religious community isx10 times worse when your character & personal integrity is of utmost importance. so when you need the support of that community for the abuse they already doubt you, and side with the narc bc your credibility has been ruined. my MIL did this to me bc i cud see thru her, so she went about destabilising me over years and then telling everyone I was mentally unstable, no good as a wife or mother, dirty, lazy whatever she could make me out to be, I was. I live with CPTSD bc my husband didnt see that she was mentally & emotionally abusing me, and she made him believe i was the problem!!! took us years to get out of that situation and heal and rebuild . some of the scars/ impacts will last a lifetime no matter how much healing you do. your personal becomes permanently altered.

For me as a previous victim of 3 narcs this doesn’t feel like a threat or to be worried about coz the people that take this as you already didn’t want to ask you ur side of the story…. Therefore why would you want that in ur life coz it will feel like a never ending battle to convince them that’s not who you are and that’s it’s the other people redirecting ur focus onto u instead of them.
