They can only use their vamp speed in short bursts, the older you are, the longer you can do it for, and the quicker you are, the Originals being the vastest and have the longest vamp speed duration

Yeah when I want to get to the mall I also always run instead of taking the car. So why would vampires waste their energy to run to another state with super speed when they can just drive😭 also it helps keeping their identity a secret I thought it was obvious
