High IQ is not the cause, neurodivergence is, the thing is a lot of neurodivergent people have higher IQs in average. Also no one actually wants to be alone, the thing is intelligent people don’t like most people, that’s why they tend to isolate, but it’s not always the case, humans are social animals and intelligence doesn’t change that. I do reject the idea that being smart equals being sad, However this guy in the video didn’t even specify the metrics he used to determine what’s “smart” is a socially constructed adjective it’s not biological. There are multiple types of intelligence and u can’t determine the outcome of any of them depending on their strength. Which is why I believe that being sad or being happy cannot be simply determined by if someone is “smart” or not. It’s heavily individualized and experienced based. Also correlation doesn’t equate causation so linking polls based on questions asked and answered by people isn’t really a reliable scientific study to initiate a consensus on.

IQ isn't the measure of intelligence. People who have higher iq have higher levels of life satisfaction because iq measures the areas that improve quality of life. IQ tests don't measure for example creativity. They don't measure emotional intelligence, practical intelligence, metacognition. The phenomenon of "I'm sad because I'm too smart" is substantially overstated but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I get your point, but let's not pretend people like Nietzsche were happy. he had been stated to be emotionally exhausted throughout the majority of his life as a writer and philosopher and would use solitude as a way of seeking comfort in his own misery
