Incomplete advice - you never know where you will work in a 30-40 year career. Absolutely worth doing FE and PE while the knowledge is still fresh from Uni.

Just took the civil, I am one year from graduating. Not sure on the results yet but my test questions were odd and not very aligned with the practices out there

Mat - PE Exam Prep Guide :
Good advice. I’ll tack on a touch to this…I would highly recommend at least taking and passing the FE in college, even if you may not need to for your career. If you’re absolutely set on a particular path and research shows it’s not critical for FE/PE, then perhaps forgo it. But…your career may change and you may need to take it down the road. If so, it’s a lot easier if you’ve already taken it and passed then it is to have to study again when you’ve been out of college for a while.

But you should note that 2 job candidates with identical stats with the exception of the FE exam would favor the guy who passed it. Just do it imo

Definitely try to take it before graduating. I waited until I finished school and worked a year, then took it. It was a hassle to juggle both
