Being from York myself I can tell you that seeing the shambles feels like I’m going to have to shout excuse me to 5000 tourist while I try to take the shortcuts I took as a child🙈

I love that these things remind us that the past is real! When I went to Versailles eons ago they had a lock of Marie-Antoinette's hair on display and it kinda broke my brain; ofc I *know* she existed but historical figures can sometimes feel abstract until you’re hit in the face with tangible evidence.
