Omg, seeing this now is so ironic. I had my baby Thursday night, and on Friday she was at breast for a 45 min period, then yesterday I was freaking out because she was only nursing for 6 minutes and then fell asleep. Is it because that 6 min session was more effective? Or she just wanted to be comforted?

I think this advice also comes from asking “is the baby being effecient and effective enough?”. I’ve heard a lot that oh this baby takes so long to feed and is falling asleep on the breast so they aren’t efficient enough at feeding and aren’t getting enough because they are falling asleep and burning too many calories from the long feeding duration. I know falling asleep is normal and not a problem if you see all phases of eating, there’s good overall weight gain, and enough diaper output. But is there some truth to taking too long means they aren’t efficient and there’s dysfunction and they are burning too many calories during a feed? ❤️

If I started out exclusively pumping, and now am wanting to switch to the breast 4 weeks postpartum, is my baby going to continue to drink about the same amount of milk from the breast? Example, he drinks between 2-4 ounces every 3 ish hours, is he going to continue drinking about this amount when I latch him at the breast? I am wondering because I pump 2-3 ounces per side, but I would like to build a small freezer stash from milk off of the breast he doesn’t feed on. But I am worried that if he isn’t eating the same amount then I will lose my supply.

A lactation consultant told me not to let my baby use me as a pacifier. I let her do whatever she wants

I only time to remind myself which boob was the last boob he fed but I don’t go by the time itself 😂

My daughter’s pediatrician 8 years ago, told me it HAS to be 15 min each breast to get the hind milk. She never nursed that much! She nurses 5 min each side - yeah she was always 99% for height and my milk is very fatty! Even when I pump- I get a lot out in less then 10 min.

I was told if you feed longer they’re working to hard and burning more calories. But now I’m being told to only breast feed my baby twice a day

thanks to your videos and my over active let downs the only thing I time is making sure that I keep giving the same side for 2 hours.

But what if my baby stops eating at 10 minutes? How do I know if he's full?

I’m definitely seeing the comfort nursing this weekend. He has Rhinovirus and wants no one but mommy, and wants to go to breast constantly. Never really timed the feeds except when I have to tell the doctors how long he eats.

This may be a silly question but how do you know when a flange is the right one for you when pumping? Thinking back to when I attempted expressing with my first 2 and wouldn’t get a lot so I stopped. Now thinking back I feel like maybe the tools I used to express were wrong..
