I love the design it just didn't truly nail home that the horror isn't their bigger eyes, larger stature or paler skin. It was that they were so young. 15 years old. Babies saving wannabe soldiers who had to wait until they were 17-18 to join and here are true soldiers that are their junior. I fucking love that reverse horror of "we were kids in a war but we were thankfully saved by veterans- HOLY SHIT, baby need a baba wtf?!"

Yeah their basically children with super human abilities. When master chief was 14 years old right after his augmentations he was aboard a medical ship while visiting a gym on the ship an argument broke out over a weight pin machine with 4 veteran ODSTs from the 105th they decided to step into the ring to box chief kills 2 and severely injured/crippled the other 2 cuz he didn’t know his own strength yet.

I think this was supposed to convey the fact that they’re just kids at the time but I’m not entirely sure because the marine trainees look the same age, maybe they’re surprised there’s three 7+ foot tall super soldiers in that pelican with them and they look around the same age
