@thesameerproject: The military occupation is looking for any excuse to escalate its airstrikes and killing in Gaza. And now, the latest attempt to legitimize more attacks? Kites and balloons. The occupation has warned today that any kite or balloon flown near the border could be treated as an act of aggression, with the area it came from targeted and bombed. Do you know who flies kites? Who plays with balloons? CHILDREN!!! Children who have already had nearly every piece of youth ripped away from them. Children who deserve toys, laughter, games, and moments where they can simply be children. Yet the world remains silent and tells us the genocide is over. They lied to you. The genocide has been reimagined. The excuses change. The language changes. The justification changes. And now even toys, entertainment, and fleeting moments of joy can be turned into a pretext for death and destruction. On August 5, The Sameer Project brought children from our camps to the beach for a day of fun. They laughed. They played. And yes - they flew kites. Look at them. These are the supposed “threats.” These are the children whose joy must apparently be feared, restricted, and punished. We are disgusted. We are angry. And we refuse to normalize a reality where a child flying a kite can be condemned. May Palestine be free. May its children one day fly their kites as high and as far as they want, beneath a sky free from occupation, drones, and bombs.
