Are we forgetting the fact it’s 3v4? This whole sequence had at least 3 opportunities for van dijk to step into the oncoming attacker and make a play for the ball… there’s one instance where if he does this he naturally closes the space between himself and the eventual goal scorer by attempting to stop the pass…. At what point do you stop backing off and go for the ball? I’d say as close to the centre circle as possible but they all collectively drop and drop and drop. Forget the midfield that was just piss poor defending

People really overlooked the role people like James Milner and Jordan Henderson used to play. With both or either on the field the Wissa would not have been allowed that space for the second goal.

Incredible that this video is suggesting Wirtz should cover, someone who we already know is lacking physicality to match the league. The idea is right but Grav and Szobo need to rotate, why are both further forward than our playmaker?

Tbf both goals would’ve been avoided if gravenberch actually let the shot go instead of fucking about with the ball and doing too much. Iraola’s tactics aren’t the problem. Unfortunately for us, he’s very different to slot and these players are gonna take a lot of time to get those habits they had under slot out of them

Macallister fouls on both of those breakaways if he is involved... takes a booking for one and we don't concede in those phases. Can't have Gravenberch, Szoboszlai and Wirtz all in attacking positions 🤯 Gravenberch carries the ball so well he needs someone behind at all times

Kerkez offers very little in terms of attack, his dribbling is poor and end result even worst. He should go across as part of a 3 on counter attacks and Frimpong stay more advanced, since his attacking is better than his defending. And Gravenberch should be 10 yards deeper. Fixes everything.
