I literally played with the salt and pepper shakers. Kids need to learn to be bored.

Pok pok is not a nice word in my native language and certainly not something I want kids to play. But what does it mean here?

See but if your kids can’t behave properly without an iPad then thats bad parenting!!!

As a teacher, please find other ways besides an iPad to keep them occupied. Or make them find their own thing to do

My kids grew up without iPads at dinner. You don’t need it. I’d bring a few books or they would use the crayons and kids menu to play with. We’d do the game on it together. Or I’d pull out cards to play together. There are others ways to entertain kids then to shove an iPad under their noses. Or please at least not use the volume or use head phones so we don’t have to hear it.

That has nothing to do with having kids, that has to do with empathy and care for others

Not a parent but I do understand that and I’m not going to judge it. Overwhelm happens, especially in public spaces. Really tired of being told what I don’t know just because I can’t get pregnant though.

My kids definitely had iPad time, so no judgement about that. But just a thought: they are not really learning to regulate their nervous systems playing on tablets. It’s a good distraction sometimes for sure, but teaching them to exist peacefully without a screen for soothing/distraction is also a big part of good parenting. Just my opinion. 😊

Napkin origami and little games my parents and grandparents taught us to play with straw wrappers is how we cope for 10 minutes.

as a former child i never needed that, theres this cool thing called talking to your children, or bringing a small notebook to draw in so they can be creative

Tolerance is an important life skill for children and parents. You’re handicapping your child and yourself when you can’t tolerate sitting at a table together.

All the adults commenting who spend dinnertime glued to their phones 😂 I don’t give a 💩 if people judge me based on seeing 10 minutes of my day. Give the kid the iPad. They’ll be ok and so will the Karens.

Kids need to learn to be bored. If you can’t handle it walk around with them until the food comes
