how come police officers don't wear uniform anymore shining shoes tie and hat pride in thier appearance now they were tac gear look like they going to war look like thugs but these two look good and professional

@commissioner Tony Agosto: Auxiliary police do have arrest powers when a crime is witnessed firsthand by the individual but the go down as a citizen arrest. They are the eyes and ears with direct communication same as a police officer I the field. Traditionaly Most young auxiliary move on to becoming full officers. Great experience and they are great for showing a unique uniform presence. Much respect to them for the 100 percent volunteer services.

As usual in the comments, mostly negative some people are actually cops. Nice to know how you really feel but Auxiliary knows that!! but continue to do what they do from the kindness of their heart. FYI most fire departments are volunteers in the United States.

Ask seasoned cops and theiy will tell u generally the auxiliaries in a busy precinct are more of a burden then helpful because of what they get involved in . It becomes unsafe for them, truth

Respect to these men and woman that volunteer to wear the NYPD AUX police uniform and show presence to prevent crime. They Don’t get paid. Just a yearly small check for their uniform allowance. They carry no firearms, and many are professionals…. Next time you are in NYC and see some of them …stop and say hi…
