Thank you for shedding light on Zimbabwe, but I think some of these points need a little more historical context. Cecil John Rhodes was interested in Zimbabwe, yes, but his ambitions were not limited to Zimbabwe. His broader vision was to expand British influence across Africa and build a railway from Cape to Cairo. So reducing his interest to simply “loving Zimbabwe” misses the bigger picture. Calling veterans activists seriously downplays what the liberation fighters actually did. Zimbabwe’s 1980 independence came through armed struggle. Thousands of people fought, many died, and liberation heroes and war veterans played a central role. “Zimbabwe ndeyeropa” which translates Zimbabwe is born of blood sheds light on how much people fought for the country. These were not just activists protesting. They were people fighting a war from white rule, if it were as you said, girl we would still be fighting. Britain did not simply “pull back” because international attention was on them. The land reform programme will give you a clear picture of what happened. It was a deliberate programme to redistribute land to Black Zimbabweans, and its later execution created serious problems of its own (including sanctions) for both parties involved. Zimbabwe has plenty of problems today, but white Zimbabweans are probably the least of them. We can acknowledge colonialism and its impact without rewriting the liberation struggle or reducing our history to a simple narrative. Zimbabwe is run and controlled by the black majority
